I haven't worn makeup for almost two weeks (part of my California detox) so the obvious thing to do is google different styles to layer on when I'm ready to reinstate the war paint. This is the first time I've ever travelled without any makeup but I know that Sephora is only around the corner if I need to get my Lily Donaldson on.

Two pairs of Bekket's hasn't cured my Isabel Marant sneaker obsession. I wasn't even this bad after I discovered Run DMC and thought that I could pull off Adidas without the laces (huge error) or thought I'd make girls quake in their Ugg boots by wearing boxing boots over my skinny jeans. I can't quite decide which pair will be joining my much loved Bekket's but I better hurry up since it seems that the entire world has discovered Isabel Marant's superbly comfortable and flattering footwear that manages to make you a little taller and the girls green with envy without having to use any shock tactics.
Finding the perfect t-shirt is like finding the perfect apartment. It's a hassle and you have to try a couple bad ones on before you reach the end of the rainbow. Basics are often the hardest pieces to get right - finding a great fitting pair of jeans often feels like solving the million dollar question on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. This summer I stumbled upon a couple t-shirts which have kicked all of my other t-shirts butts. My mens ribbed wifebeaters just don't seem to cut it anymore.
1. Rag & Bone Pocket Tee
This is soft, cashmere soft and has the perfect roomy, lived in feel that new t-shirts just don't have anymore.
2. Isabel Marant Linen Tee
This t-shirt is more fitted but it's beautifully long to cover up all of evidence that I've spent summer hoarding Tarte Tropezienne instead of hitting the early bird spinning class at my local hot house.
3. Enza Costa Ribbed Tank Tops
These are my holy grail of all tank tops. My tank top obsession started at the ripe old age of 13 and I'm fairly certain I've owned every kind under the sun (one of my favourites being mens Fruit of the Loom that I glamourously buy in packs of 5 from Costco). This tank is slightly loose, slightly long, thin ribbed and comfortable enough to wear for three days straight and not feel bad.

This is my dream outfit for today - with a tank top quite obviously. Miu Miu silk swallow sandals in a shade of pink that would make your 7yr old sister drop her Polly Pockets and demand a matching pair in her size with cut off shorts your brother would consider his is a perfect match to make your siblings (or the school yard) envy you in the summer sun.

It's Thursday night and I'm scouring the web for my favourite thing (other than the latest imports from Net-a-Porter), eyebrows. When it comes to eyebrows the more natural and thicker the better. If you've overplucked your brows I've heard Rogain and caster oil will do the job.

When it comes to makeup I'm generally from the less-is-more camp. On weekdays Embryolisse is the only thing I wear on my face with maybe a touch of Bobbi Brown clinical concealer if I've spent all night watching junky reality shows online (yes I'm talking about you Hip-Hop Wives). When I do wear makeup for dinners or parties, Ashley Olsen is most definitely my go-to inspiration. Her skin is always luminous, glowing and appears bare whilst her thick eyebrows are ever so slightly groomed. The look is always finishes off the look with smudgey smokey eyes in warm sable shades to accentuate her saucer sized eyes.

Manolo Blahnik must be my earliest shoe memory. My mother arriving home strewn with white glossy boxes and shoes wrapped carefully in yards of white tissue paper was a regular occurrence in my house. My first pair of 'proper' shoes was a pair of Manolo's aged 13 after I'd seen Gisele looking impossibly gorgeous in a pair of gold strappy sandals (which I still have). I have recently begun to appreciate the beautiful craftsmanship, the elegance of the designs, the simplicity and quirkiness and the fact that reality stars, girl bands and Essex girls haven't quite discovered the secret my mother was keeping all along.

While I am feeling very sorry for myself for not adopting a pair of Miu Miu sunglasses this summer (see below) I did manage to track down a pair of Celine's Audrey sunglasses (inspired by Audrey Hepburn's iconic sunglasses in Breakfast at Tiffany's). Without sounding like a total sunglasses maniac (I promise I don't spend my life hunting sunglasses) I was rather pleased with myself.
It's safe to say I'm kicking myself for passing on these sunglasses. I ran all around Paris to find these in gold glitter and shock horror I left without them. Rookie error on my part.
Now I'm going to hunt high and low for them to redeem my moronic decision to let them slip through my fingers. After all when will I ever find such wonderful 40s inspired sunglasses covered in glitter.
My point exactly.

Ulyana Sergeenko is one of my favourite style icons. You never see her rehashing Erin Wasson's California surfer girl look or dressing like a glossy Oligarch's wife. She does Russian peasant with a (double) shot of glamour perfectly. With a face similar to Leslie Caron straight out of Gigi, what's not to love?
